School Board Reviews Updated Covid protocols, all schools at Tier 1 -Face to Face Instruction
At the regular meeting of the Hot Springs Board of Education on Monday night, January 17, the Board reviewed with school nurse Greg Gunwall the current Covid protocols that are in place at the CDC and the SD Department of Health. Below is a summary of protocols currently in place:
Most common symptoms of Covid in our youth according to the CDC is:
Fatigue Headache
Trouble sleeping Muscle and/or joint pain
Cough Low grade fever
If you test positive:
Quarantine for 5 days and if fever free on day five may return to school on day 6. Must wear a mask through day 10
Close contact of someone who is positive
Unvaccinated students and staff:
Must quarantine for 5 days and may test for virus on day 5. May return to school on day 6 if no fever present on day 5. Must wear a mask through day 10.
Fully Vaccinated students and staff:
May remain in school if no symptoms present. Must wear a mask through day 10. Testing is suggested at day 5 but not required.
Definition of Fully Vaccinated
Moderna and Pfizer vaccines were administered within the last 6 months.
Or
Johnson and Johnson vaccine administered in the last 2 months.
Or
Have received a booster vaccine.
