Bison R' Back

We are excited to invite parents & students to the Bison R\' Back Night on Thursday, August 18, from 5:00-7:00. Come with your family, look at your student’s schedule, and meet your student’s teachers. Food will be served over at the football field concession stands from 5:00-7:00. Come check out the bouncy castles and community booths. 6th-12th Grade Families: The new Secondary Administration team would like to invite all parents & students for a brief introduction in the Case at 5:00 pm. Following that meeting, at 5:30, we would like all Freshmen (9th Grade) students and parents to stay for a brief orientation. Sixth grade students will have orientation on the first day of school.

First Day of School August 22, 2022

The first day of school for ALL 1st through 12th grade students will be August 22, 2022. Kindergarten students will be attending on either Monday or Tuesday from 8:00 to 3:45. All Kindergarten students will attend Wednesday and Thursday 8:00-3:45. There will be NO early release or staggered start for students. See time below. Elementary: 8:00-3:45 Middle/High School: 7:50-3:47 NOTE: If heat becomes excessive, early release will be considered and parents will be notified.

Bison Sports Broadcast on NFHS Network

Thanks to our broadcast sponsors Fall River Health Services, all broadcasts to Bison sports and other events on the NFHS Network will be free to all viewers. Automated cameras are mounted in the Case Auditorium and at Woodward Field/Dave Scott Stadium to capture all of the action.

School Board Reviews Updated Covid protocols, all schools at Tier 1 -Face to Face Instruction

At the regular meeting of the Hot Springs Board of Education on Monday night, January 17, the BoardCovid logo reviewed with school nurse Greg Gunwall the current Covid protocols that are in place at the CDC and the SD Department of Health. Below is a summary of protocols currently in place:

Most common symptoms of Covid in our youth according to the CDC is:

Fatigue                                 Headache
Trouble sleeping              Muscle and/or joint pain
Cough                                   Low grade fever

If you test positive:

Quarantine for 5 days and if fever free on day five may return to school on day 6. Must wear a mask through day 10

Close contact of someone who is positive

Unvaccinated students and staff:

Must quarantine for 5 days and may test for virus on day 5. May return to school on day 6 if no fever present on day 5. Must wear a mask through day 10.

Fully Vaccinated students and staff:

May remain in school if no symptoms present. Must wear a mask through day 10. Testing is suggested at day 5 but not required. 

Definition of Fully Vaccinated
Moderna and Pfizer vaccines were administered within the last 6 months. 
Johnson and Johnson vaccine administered in the last 2 months. 
Have received a booster vaccine.

Hot Springs Schools Mobile App Now Available


The mobile app for Hot Springs Bison is now available on both the Apple Store and Google Play Store. Search "Hot Springs Schools" and look for the Bison logo to download a free version of the apps.
