Music Department Offering Summer Band

The Hot Springs Band Department is offering summer band this year!

The program will consist of a once-a-week assigned day & time according to your child’s age and instrument. The assigned day & time will be on a

Monday, Tuesday, or a Wednesday.  Please see the attached calendar for instrument /grade assignments.  There are six weeks designated for this program.

*Students will need to have their own instrument to participate.

(If a student has already declared their instrument choice for next year to Mrs. Vande Stroet, and will be renting from the school next school year, this instrument will be available for the summer band program.)

*Lesson books are encouraged to be purchased for your student.

(Students going into 6th grade will need their own lesson book in the fall anyway.)

We will take an incentive trip at the end of the 6 weeks for those that are able to participate in the rehearsals!!  We will possibly take a trip as a group and get an unlimited wristband for all attractions at Rush Adventure Park in Keystone, or 18 holes of Putz N’ Glo mini golf in Rapid City, or a fun trip to the Watiki Water Park in Rapid City!

Performances during the summer band program are looking like the 4th of July parade, playing before some Community Band concerts at Centennial Park throughout the summer, and performing downtown during the Fall River Hot Air Balloon Festival the end of August!

Please fill out the attached information sheet to secure your spot for the summer band program. Please return it to Mrs. Vande Stroet by May 12.  This is not a requirement, but highly recommended for some more instruction on your instrument, more possibilities to perform in our community, and simply to be ready for band next fall—no matter what level you are in!

I am looking forward to working with your student on his/her instrument in a

fun, supportive, & encouraging atmosphere! :)
